The energy faculty started in 1998.
The faculty trains students on specialities: 110302 Farm electrification and automation (with specializations: farm electrification and technological processes electrification), 140106 Energy supply of enterprises (with specializations: farm energy supply and municipal energy supply) and bachelors on speciality Agro engineering.
At present there are 55 professors at the faculty: 6 doctors of sciences and 28 candidates of sciences. There are more than 1050 students studying. The students of the faculty win scientific contests and get patents.

The energy faculty is famous for its scientific work all over Russia. The main scientific schools are: calculation and proving measures on rational energy supply, cutting expenses on one unit of farm produce (R.S. Aipov, L.P. Andrianova); working out the electric devices for stimulating cereal germination and increasing their productivity (A.I. Zheltoukhov); working out the automatic devices for water supply of farms (A.I. Ivanov); working out the automatic devices for street illumination and hot houses lighting (A.I. Ivanov); increasing energy effectivity of protected grounds based on optimal system of managing temperature; technologies and technological decisions on using microwave devices in agriculture and some others.
There is a laboratory of energy audit (A.V. Linenko) which is researching the compatibility of technical electric devices and rules of operating electrical equipment.

The professors of the faculty have defended three doctoral and nine candidate theses. The faculty has won the grant on scientific work of the President of Russia. The faculty has received 40 patents for inventions and has licensed dozens of computer programs. The professors have published more than 400 scientific articles, 8 books and 7 study books.
The faculty has trained more than 1,200 electric engineers so far.
There are the following departments at the faculty: of physics; of automatics and electric technique; of electric machines and electric equipment; of electric supply and using electric energy on farms; of heat engineering.
