The veterinary medicine faculty was founded in 1934.

The faculty trains students on speciality 111201 Veterinary medicine (with specializations “Farm animals diseases”, “Veterinary and sanitary expertise of animals and crops products” and “Veterinary pharmacy”.

Now the faculty trains 600 full-time and 100 part-time students.

Every year the students of the faculty take part in all-republican contest of scientific works and they usually get prizes in “Medicine and veterinary medicine” section.

At present the faculty consists of 77 professors: 16 doctors of sciences, one honored academician of the Academy of Sciences in the republic of Bashkortostan, two honored scientists of the republic of Bashkortostan, three academicians of the Academy of veterinary medicine of the Russian Federation and 45 candidates of sciences.

The professors of the faculty are working on scientific basis of prophylaxis and liquidation of main zoo anthroponoses to improve the sanitary conditions of some areas in the republic of Bashkortostan (A.S. Sagitova, G.Z. Khaziev); non-specific factors in regulating active mechanisms for protecting animals organism (E.P. Dementiev); schemes of using immune-modulators and acupuncture to improve protecting forces of animals organism (A.V. Andreeva); internationalization and national-cultural specifics as factors of language system development (A.N. Antyshev).

During the last ten years the professors of the faculty have published more than 1,550 scientific works, among them 60 books, 70 study books and received 4 patents.

There is a Consulting and diagnosing center of veterinary medicine and a Center of translations and intensive language teaching working at the faculty.

The veterinary medicine faculty has trained about 6,000 specialists.

Now there are ten departments at the faculty: of internal non-catching diseases; of clinical diagnostics and pharmacology; of anatomy; of pathology anatomy; of obstetrics and surgery; of parasitology, microbiology, epizootology, zoo hygiene and veterinary sanitary expertise; of foreign languages.
